The post How to Deal with Tracer as Widowmaker in Overwatch appeared first on Aimlabs.com Articles.

]]>
Widowmaker is a high-risk, high-reward hero in Overwatch, and playing against a good Widowmaker can make you want to turn off your computer. Alternatively, playing against a bad Widowmaker feels like a free win. Widowmaker is among one of two heroes in Overwatch that can one-shot with no damage boost, with the only other culprit being Hanzo. Both Widowmaker and Hanzo act as the game’s “snipers” and fill a similar playstyle. The ability to one-shot targets in a generally higher time to kill hero shooter like Overwatch is hugely impactful, as a tradeoff, Widowmaker is very squishy and prone to being dived.

Good aim alone isn’t enough to make you a good Widowmaker; you also need solid positioning and game sense to excel on the hero. While playing Widowmaker, you will need to know when to take the high ground and when to play behind your teammates. A good high-ground position will allow you to pick off enemies before they can react, but Widow’s kit doesn’t allow for much escapability other than her grapple, so you need to know how to play around its cooldown or quickly become minced meat to a Winston.

There will be times when picking Widowmaker simply isn’t a good idea, depending on the map and the enemy team’s composition, and there will be times when picking Widowmaker is a death sentence. Ensure you aren’t picking the hero into unfavorable match-ups when defending, especially on control maps, as this can lead to a swift defeat.

Speaking of unfavorable matchups, one of the most frustrating heroes to play against as Widowmaker, especially if you’re still learning the ropes, is Tracer. Tracer’s slim player model, paired with her “blink” ability which dashes across a short distance instantly, makes her a challenging target to land shots on. However, if you can master tracking the timing and distance of Tracer’s blink, you can learn to click her head like any other hero. It’s also worth noting that Tracer only has 150 health points, meaning you will be one-shotting her at all ranges if you can land the headshot.

The featured task will help you with general dynamic clicking, specifically dealing with those pesky Tracer mains. This task equips you with a scoped weapon, spawning spherical targets on a wall facing you. In addition to being dynamic, the targets in this task have a unique behavior, as they emulate Tracer’s blink ability and dash in a range of directions at set intervals. This task will significantly aid your ability to deal with Tracer’s movement. Focus on landing your shots immediately after a target blinks, and remember to ADS!

Tracking Opponents at Mid-Range in Overwatch https://aimlabs.com/articles/aimlabs/tracking-opponents-at-mid-range-in-overwatch/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=tracking-opponents-at-mid-range-in-overwatch Mon, 09 Feb 2026 21:48:53 +0000 https://aimlabs.com/articles/?p=4024 Practice you can use to improve your tracking on an enemy at mid-range, while countering their ADAD spam movements with reactivity!

The post Tracking Opponents at Mid-Range in Overwatch appeared first on Aimlabs.com Articles.

]]>
In the heat of a battle, things can quickly get pretty hairy. Before you know it, a player has closed the distance on you, and now you’re throwing down with each other in short to mid-range, edge of your seat battle. If you are playing something like Overwatch, where that player may be able to soak more of that damage up or can move quickly enough to shake your aim off repeatedly, you are in for some serious trouble. So lets drill exactly that: having a player engage you at medium range and maintaining a smooth and steady tracking aim on the target to melt them down before they do the same to you.

You will want to keep a few things in mind when aiming in these scenarios, first, focus on being reactive rather than being predictive. A lot of players are going to ADAD spam you until your knees bump into each other, and if you are trying to predict where they are going, you can quickly overestimate, taking your crosshair off of the target for an extended period; time that they are doing damage to you without taking anything back.

Remember, if your crosshair is not on the target, you’re not scoring points, and in a live game environment, you’re not doing damage. If your opponent can eliminate you without taking much punishment back, they’re not just taking you off the board, they’re doing it at a discount.

VT Pilltrack Novice on Aimlabs

In this featured task, you will be challenged to track a pill shaped target at mid-range as it dashes with variations of short, mid, and long strafes. Focus on reacting to the target’s movements, so that you are training your reactivity in a way that is much more beneficial in the long run than correctly predicting which direction they will head in next. It may not click at first, and this may be something that you need to work on for more than just one training session, but the benefits will begin to appear in other corners of your aim and skillset, so make the most of it.

Avoid the trap of prediction against a target that is being unpredictable. Instead, train your reactivity so you can trust your tracking when you’re facing the strafe spam.

Finding the right mouse sensitivity feels harder than it should. You tweak sliders, copy pro settings, and still, something feels off in game. The problem is not effort. The problem is guessing. Sensitivity needs structure, not trial and error.

The latest Aimlabs YouTube guide starts by removing the guesswork. It breaks down common sensitivity ranges used across popular shooters and explains why those ranges exist. For example, faster games tend to favor higher sensitivity. Tactical shooters reward control and precision. Seeing these ranges side by side gives you a clear starting point instead of a random number.

The guide uses cm/360 as the foundation. This measures how far your mouse travels to complete a full rotation. Cm per 360 stays consistent across games and DPI settings. This makes it easier to compare sensitivities and build mouse control that transfers between titles.

The video covers a wide range of games including VALORANT, Counter Strike 2, Rainbow Six Siege, Fortnite, Call of Duty, Battlefield 6, Overwatch 2, Marvel Rivals, and Apex Legends. Each section explains how movement, engagement distance, and pacing influence sensitivity choices. From there, the guide walks you through narrowing your range based on your playstyle.

By the end, the goal stays simple. You stop thinking about your sensitivity during fights. Your crosshair moves with intent. If you want a repeatable way to lock in a sens you trust, this guide gives you a clear path forward!

The post Dealing with Hectic Movement in Overwatch 2 appeared first on Aimlabs.com Articles.

Mastering DPS in Overwatch 2 can be challenging, especially for those unfamiliar with the game’s arena shooter elements. The game features diverse map layouts with a wide variety of points of elevation, numerous movement abilities among heroes, and a wide array of player models amongst these heroes, each with unique hitbox sizes and health point stats.

To excel as a damage dealer in Overwatch, honing your skills in both flicking and tracking is essential, with tracking being the dominant mechanic. In games with a high TTK and a variety of different player movements to deal with, tracking takes precedence over flicking as you will be required to keep your crosshair fixed on a target as accurately as possible in order to deal sustained damage. This becomes particularly evident when considering the significant differences in hero hitboxes and movement abilities.

While the flicking or clicking aspect also applies to dynamic targets, this mechanic mainly applies to heroes that can deal high amounts of damage in a single instance, like Widowmaker or Sojourn. While flicking is a separate mechanic from tracking, tracking still plays a crucial role within the subset. Despite the occasional need for swift, sharp adjustments onto a target, Overwatch’s clicking component largely relies on your ability to track opponents between shots, watch any professional play Cassidy, and this will be made apparent.

VT Trackshot on Aimlabs

To enhance your Overwatch mechanics through aim training at an optimal rate, it is crucial to engage in tasks that combine both tracking and flicking. The featured task is designed to teach you how to keep your crosshair on a target as it attempts to be evasive, while you also develop your ability to switch between tracking and flicking effortlessly by also prompting you to flick to dynamic targets.

The task will have you track three bots with distinct movement patterns in separate phases. When the cigar or pill shaped target is on screen, hover your crosshair over the target without holding down your fire button. After doing 15 damage to that target, a single sphere target will spawn, and you will have to click on it within 5 seconds to get extra points. If you fail to shoot that target, you will lose points. The phases will repeat, with the tracking target being located in different positions each phase.

Practice your reactive tracking, while being ready to make a quick flick to the sphere target, then reset to begin tracking again. Developing the ability to handle scenarios like this will help you adapt to the mixed nature of challenges you will run into in Overwatch and other similar titles!

In the high-stakes environment of Overwatch 2, where team synergy and individual mechanics collide, mastering the art of extended tracking is a pivotal skill for players aiming to stand out as damage dealers and dominate the server. Just as you’ve familiarized yourself with the fundamentals of target acquisition and tracking, it’s time to delve deeper into the individual aspects of extended tracking.

Simply put, extended tracking is about keeping your crosshair on an opponent; however, looking deeper into it, it’s about anticipation, reactivity, and focus. It requires you to maintain consistent aim on a moving target over an extended period, often amidst the chaos of ongoing skirmishes. This subset of tracking is critical in Overwatch 2, where dealing with varying hitboxes and erratic movements is inevitable.

Overwatch 2’s dynamic maps are filled with characters zipping through the air, blinking, or darting around corners, demanding more than just quick flicks or short bursts of lining up your crosshair. Here, extended tracking becomes your best friend, enabling you to deal sustained damage to highly mobile heroes. Heroes like Tracer, Genji, or Echo, are known for their elusive movements and require more than just a momentary lock-on. Extended tracking ensures you maintain continuous damage output, a crucial aspect of higher time to kill games like Overwatch, especially with the plethora of healing abilities that exist in the game, you need to eliminate your enemies before they get a window to heal back up.

The attached task, rA Strafetrack Easy, will work on your ability to accurately track moving targets across extended periods, while focusing both reactivity and precision. It’s a reactive tracking scenario which challenges you to track a target that is moving evasively, on the horizontal plane. Practice your reactive tracking, working to keep your crosshair as accurate as possible on the target as it attempts to evade your shots.

Master Tracking As Tracer in Overwatch 2 https://aimlabs.com/articles/aimlabs-academy/master-tracking-as-tracer-in-overwatch-2/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=master-tracking-as-tracer-in-overwatch-2 Wed, 07 Jan 2026 22:39:41 +0000 https://aimlabs.com/articles/?p=3898 Breaking down the challenges of playing efficiently as Tracer, and the concepts you will need to be familiar with to be a successful Tracer.

The post Master Tracking As Tracer in Overwatch 2 appeared first on Aimlabs.com Articles.

]]>
One of the main reasons Tracer is so difficult to play is because she is mechanically demanding as a hero. Tracer’s main weapon are her pulse pistols, these dual wield energy blasters are a high fire-rate low damage per shot weapon that will require you to land the majority of your shots per clip in order to deal substantial damage to your opponents. This necessitates high tracking accuracy, and due to the nature of how varied the movement is amongst heroes in Overwatch 2, you will need to focus on dynamic tracking.

Tracer herself is a hero who bases her survivability around her incredible movement potential stemming from her kit. Tracer has a measly 150HP, leaving her extremely vulnerable if she remains immobile; however, her abilities allow her to blink across a set distance quickly and even “recall” to a previous position, reversing all the damage she suffered since that point in time. Learning to use Tracer’s blink and recall abilities effectively is crucial to mastering her mechanics, which means that learning to aim while utilizing her movement abilities is also critical to maximizing your impact as Tracer.

Building a strong mechanical baseline as Tracer is quite difficult, the combination of needing to stay moving, positioning yourself efficiently, and simultaneously landing the majority of your shots, makes the hero mechanically challenging than in comparison to more straightforward options such as Soldier 76.

VT Teletrack on Aimlabs

In order to help you attain mastery of Tracer’s unique combat mechanics, the featured task will help you train your ability to track targets on the move, giving you the mechanical fundamentals you need to dominate. This task will prompt you to track a dynamic target strafing horizontally while emulating Tracer’s “blink” ability. Every few seconds, you will be teleported across a short distance and will need to adjust your aim accordingly to continue tracking the target. Focus on quickly turning, acquiring your target, and developing your reactive tracking, rinsing and repeating each time you blink across the task play area.

Are you jumping into Overwatch 2 and want a clear place to start with your aim training? This playlist gives you a simple and focused routine built for Overwatch 2 fundamentals. You’ll work on your core mechanics to feel more prepared before queueing your next match.

This routine works for players at every skill level and supports both daily training and pre match warm ups. The playlist focuses on four core Overwatch 2 aim skills. Flicking builds fast target acquisition. Smooth target switching reinforces control between multiple threats. Precise tracking sharpens consistency on sustained targets. Reactive tracking prepares you for sudden direction changes common in fights. Several tasks align with specific hero aim styles, and most tasks support ADS or hip fire along with optional movement. This structure helps you train mechanics while staying close to real Overwatch 2 combat flow.

Flicking:

Adjustshot 4 Targets OW – This task features four targets placed on a wide wall with no depth. The targets are not fully static, as they have slight and gentle movement, which makes the scenario very effective for practicing proper flicking technique, combining a strong initial flick with controlled microcorrections caused by the subtle target motion. It includes an optional sniper ADS overlay, making it suitable for training a wide range of hitscan flicking heroes, from Cassidy to Widowmaker.

Orbshot – Several gently flying targets positioned above the player in this task. It’s excellent for training awkward angles, simulating airborne heroes such as Mercy. It also develops target reading, microcorrections, and target prioritization.

Multishot OW – A flicking scenario featuring five targets that must each be hit three times to be eliminated. It includes optional player movement and a sniper ADS overlay, making it suitable for training a wide range of hitscan flicking heroes, like the first scenario in this section.

Smooth Switching:

Smoothswitch OW – This is a target switching scenario with several gently flying targets surrounding the player. Compared to most switching scenarios, this one leans more toward tracking due to its higher time-to-kill. It also includes health regeneration, meaning targets must be fully eliminated before moving on to the next one. ADS and player movement are optional.

Controlswitch OW – This target switching scenario features evasive flying targets around the player. It is even more tracking-oriented due to the targets’ more erratic, yet still readable, movement patterns. Like Smoothswitch, it uses health regeneration, requiring full eliminations before switching targets. ADS and player movement are optional.

Precise Tracking:

Flytrack OW – This precise tracking task features a pill-shaped target performing long strafes while flying in front of the player, mimicking heroes like Mercy. It helps develop target reading and tracking stability. Focus on smoothly following the target and avoid changing direction until the target itself does.

Controltrack Blink OW – This task is a precise tracking scenario with a semi-evasive target moving around the player. The target also performs random dashes, forcing the player to flick back to it in a controlled manner to continue tracking. This is highly representative of encounters against heroes with fast movement abilities, such as Tracer. ADS is optional, and player movement is disabled to fully focus on the required aiming mechanics.

Reactive Tracking:

180 Blink Track OW – A reactive tracking scenario featuring a pill-shaped target that performs frequent horizontal and vertical strafes with near-instant acceleration to replicate in-game movement. The target also frequently blinks/dashes through the player, simulating heroes like Tracer and Genji and forcing quick 180-degree turns to maintain tracking.

Fartrack OW Easy – This reactive tracking task features a pill-shaped target that uses game-like acceleration and movement. The target performs both long and short strafes at medium to long range. This scenario focuses on raw reactivity and target reading.

Closetrack OW Easy – Similar to Fartrack, but set at a very close range. The pill-shaped target uses realistic acceleration and movement while performing long and short strafes. It emphasizes raw reactivity and target reading in close-quarters situations, closely reflecting real in-game encounters.

In Overwatch 2, securing the high ground is a crucial component of positioning, especially if you’re on the defending team. The elevated terrain offers a broader field of vision, allowing you to scan the battlefield and spot enemy movements more effectively, significantly influencing the outcome of battles.

From higher vantage points, hitscan DPS heroes such as Cassidy, Sojourn, Ashe, and Widowmaker gain a huge advantage, enabling them to pick off opponents with both great accuracy and the ability to fall back when taking damage. High-ground positions don’t solely benefit DPS players however. Support heroes can leverage the high ground for improved healing and support coverage, while tanks benefit from the elevated regions in controlling key areas and creating roadblocks for the opposing team.

Having good aim isn’t enough to make you a good player, practice, solid positioning and gamesense play a crucial role in excelling in Overwatch. Everyone loves playing the DPS role, however, you must know when to push for the high-ground as well as when to play behind your teammates instead. A good high-ground position will allow you to pick off enemies before they can even react, but you need to know when and how to take these positions effectively as there are many heroes in the game such as D.Va or Winston that can quickly force you out of your newly acquired positional advantage.

Dallas Fuel Floorshot for Overwatch 2 in Aimlabs

In order to enhance your mechanical ability to make the most out of these high-ground angles, this featured task will place you in an elevated position and require you to accurately flick to the targets below you. The task is designed to improve your ability to land headshots from the high ground, giving you an orb to aim at that will simulate a headshot hitbox. Both speed and accuracy factor into your score on this task, so work on building up your speed as you practice with the downward facing angle!
