So why does it fall apart in the fight? Here's the habit loop that's holding you back.

The post Why You’re Still Losing VALORANT Aim Duels You Should Be Winning appeared first on Aimlabs.com Articles.

]]>
You know how VALORANT works. You understand crosshair placement, you know you shouldn’t spray at long range, you know movement and shooting don’t mix… and yet you’re still losing gunfights you feel like you should be winning. The fundamentals aren’t the problem. Getting them out of your head and into your hands is.

That’s the premise of the latest video from the Aimlabs YouTube channel, which goes beyond repeating the basics and gets into the specific habits that override them, why they’re so hard to break, and what it actually takes to fix them. If you’ve ever caught yourself doing something wrong mid-fight and been completely unable to stop it in the moment, the video has a framework for exactly that.

The Skill Awareness Ladder

There’s a well-known model in learning and coaching called the four stages of competence. The video applies it directly to VALORANT gunfight habits, and it’s worth understanding because it explains why knowing something isn’t the same as being able to execute it under pressure.

The first stage is unconscious incompetence. You’re doing something wrong and you don’t even know it. You can’t fix what you can’t see. The second stage is conscious incompetence. You’ve started catching the mistake, but you still can’t stop it in the moment. Progress, but frustrating. The third stage is conscious competence. You’re executing correctly, but you have to actively think about it, which means you lose the fight the moment your attention goes elsewhere. The fourth stage is unconscious competence. The skill is automatic. You don’t have to think about it, which frees you up to focus on everything else happening in the round.

Most players who know their fundamentals are stuck somewhere between stages two and three. The goal of deliberate drilling is to close that gap and push toward stage four.

From Awareness to Reflex

The video covers some of the most common habits that keep VALORANT players at stages two and three, from movement error and spray reliance to crosshair placement mistakes and diagonal peeking. For each one it identifies the habit, explains why it costs you gunfights, and gives you a specific drill to address it.

Deepflick Pokeball on Aimlabs

A couple worth highlighting: for players who struggle with mindless flicking and no micro-adjustments, Adjustshot VALORANT in Aimlabs is recommended specifically because the target size and movement force you to correct after the initial flick rather than just hoping it lands. For crosshair placement in chaotic multi-angle situations, Deepflick Pokeball gets called out as a high-rep drill for building reliable snap aim without the noise of a full deathmatch.

The throughline across all of it is that awareness has to come before training, and training has to come before reflex. Jumping straight to deathmatch without knowing what habit you’re trying to break is just reinforcing whatever you’re already doing.

The full breakdown, including every habit and drill covered, is in the video. It’s worth a watch if you want the complete picture.

Try this practice to help counter the pressure!

Tactical shooters like VALORANT are all about holding angles and landing clean shots on your opponents, hence the old “just click heads!” However, clicking heads becomes much more challenging when your enemies push directly into your position and force you to confront them in a close-quarters aim duel.

Due to the low time to kill in VALORANT, paired with the generally slower movement and inability to shoot accurately while moving, most aim duels will take place in medium to long ranges, mainly relying on your ability to make fine adjustments to your aim. The better your crosshair placement is, the more minimal the necessitated adjustments will be.

However, you are certainly also familiar with the feeling of an opponent getting up close and personal with a shorty, or a Jett dashing and updrafting into you during her ultimate, or perhaps even a Raze double-satchelling into your face with the perpetually frustrating judge shotgun. In these scenarios, relying on your micro-adjustments goes out the window as you must rely on your ability to make swift, large adjustments to reposition your crosshair accordingly and deal with these pesky combatants.

rA VALORANT Ascent Horde on Aimlabs

This task will emulate these in-game situations where your opponents force you to engage in close-quarters aim duels. It puts you in a high pressure scenario where pill shaped targets with head hitboxes “push” into your position from three different points of entry in Ascent’s mid region. You will need to deal with multiple targets in close quarters combat. It’s important to manage the targets, eliminating them as quickly as possible to prevent yourself from being overwhelmed. Remember, aim for the head!

The post Practice Wallpeeking Like the Pros in Tac Shooters appeared first on Aimlabs.com Articles.

]]>
If you are looking to excel at any low TTK game, you will have to master the art of wall peeking. Think of this as the bread and butter of any tactical shooter, especially when playing as an attacker. Wall-peeking’s name describes it accurately; it is the act of peeking into an enemy’s line of sight from behind cover.

Wall-peeking may sound simple in theory and in a lot of ways it is. However, there are some important takeaways to keep in mind! First, ensure your crosshair is optimally positioned. There will be times, inevitably, when you are already aware of the general position of an enemy, and you want to peek into them. In these cases, it is important to “pre-aim.” Do this by positioning your crosshair in a manner that ensures it aligns with the opponent’s player model as you expose your own.

The most overlooked aspect of wall-peeking is positioning. One of the most common mistakes beginners make is that they tend to stand too close to the wall they’re peeking, putting themselves in a highly disadvantageous situation. If you do this, the enemy holding the angle you are peeking into will spot your player model before you gain vision of theirs. This is a big issue in low TTK games such as Counter-Strike or VALORANT, as the winner of an aim duel is often determined by who gets to land the first shot.

VCT Haven Wallpeek on Aimlabs

The following task will help you immensely in building upon your wall-peeking fundamentals, even though the task recreates a bombsite from VALORANT’s Haven, Counter-Strike and VALORANT are highly similar in their mechanics, making it a solid choice for either game.

The targets in this task are humanoid shaped and favor headshots, and they follow a movement pattern highly similar to how players will strafe and move in tac shooters. With the addition of varying elevation points, the task requires you to adjust your aim further to land your shots accurately. Remember, be present minded of your positioning. Don’t hug the wall, give yourself space as you peek the angle!

Finding the right mouse sensitivity feels harder than it should. You tweak sliders, copy pro settings, and still, something feels off in game. The problem is not effort. The problem is guessing. Sensitivity needs structure, not trial and error.

The latest Aimlabs YouTube guide starts by removing the guesswork. It breaks down common sensitivity ranges used across popular shooters and explains why those ranges exist. For example, faster games tend to favor higher sensitivity. Tactical shooters reward control and precision. Seeing these ranges side by side gives you a clear starting point instead of a random number.

The guide uses cm/360 as the foundation. This measures how far your mouse travels to complete a full rotation. Cm per 360 stays consistent across games and DPI settings. This makes it easier to compare sensitivities and build mouse control that transfers between titles.

The video covers a wide range of games including VALORANT, Counter Strike 2, Rainbow Six Siege, Fortnite, Call of Duty, Battlefield 6, Overwatch 2, Marvel Rivals, and Apex Legends. Each section explains how movement, engagement distance, and pacing influence sensitivity choices. From there, the guide walks you through narrowing your range based on your playstyle.

By the end, the goal stays simple. You stop thinking about your sensitivity during fights. Your crosshair moves with intent. If you want a repeatable way to lock in a sens you trust, this guide gives you a clear path forward!

Here's the perfect task that you can use to practice and improve your pistol game!

The post Learn How to Dominate Pistol Round in VALORANT appeared first on Aimlabs.com Articles.

]]>
In games like VALORANT or Counter-Strike 2, the pistol isn’t just a backup; it’s your primary weapon in the opening and eco (economy) rounds. Winning the pistol round can set the tone for the match, giving you both an economic and psychological advantage. A win allows you to buy better gear in the next round, while a loss might force a risky “force-buy” that can further strain your team’s economy if unsuccessful.

Excelling in pistol combat requires mastering aim mechanics, particularly precise flicking on dynamic targets. This involves keeping your crosshair on a moving target, crucial in these fast-paced encounters. Your movement is also vital; counter-strafing, which combines quick directional changes with precise shooting, ensures your shots are accurate while maintaining mobility.

By honing these skills, you’ll not only survive but dominate in VALORANT’s most critical rounds. Today’s featured task will help you train these techniques, so that you can start winning your pistol rounds consistently.

The task will have you test your aim against horizontally strafing targets positioned at a variety of depths on a wide playfield. The targets have headshot hitboxes, but will still take multiple shots to eliminate. Focus on chaining together quick, consecutive headshots while tracking the strafing target to maximize your performance in the task, and improve your ability to delete your opponents with your pistol.

Practice to Deal with Reyna’s Flashes in VALORANT https://aimlabs.com/articles/aimlabs/practice-to-deal-with-reynas-flashes-in-valorant/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=practice-to-deal-with-reynas-flashes-in-valorant Fri, 02 Jan 2026 19:52:30 +0000 https://aimlabs.com/articles/?p=3885 Learn everything you will need to understand how Reyna players are making use of her utility, and how you can counter it appropriately.

The post Practice to Deal with Reyna’s Flashes in VALORANT appeared first on Aimlabs.com Articles.

]]>
Let’s talk about how to deal with Reyna’s flashes in VALORANT. With Reyna continuing to have a high pick rate, you will run into her in most of your ranked matches. Reyna’s self-sufficient kit means she doesn’t need a strong team composition built around her to perform well. This holds especially true in the lower end of the ranked spectrum, where teams are less coordinated and less comfortable with countering agents. With Reyna also being a popular pick for smurfs in lower ranks, you have almost certainly run into a Reyna who carried their team against you. To help counter that, we will learn how to reduce Reyna’s impact round to round.

Reyna is an agent that thrives as an attacker due to her passive ability, Soul Harvest, which spawns up to two orbs or souls per round whenever she secures a kill or assist on an enemy. This allows her to either cast Devour and heal herself, potentially gaining temporary armor, or Dismiss and enter an invincible state for a few seconds. This passive makes her a formidable opponent in any setting due to her increased survivability and self-sustainability. Furthermore, her ultimate enhances her passive, granting instant healing on every kill and permitting her unlimited casts on Dismiss, even granting invisibility while it’s active. It is worth noting that she must have line of sight on an orb to consume it.

While this all sounds pretty overpowered, Reyna does need a kill or assist to use it, meaning she has to be played aggressively in order to be efficient. Reyna uses her flash ability, Leer, to create the opportunities to accomplish this. Leer has a clear-cut weak point, as it can be shot and destroyed, possessing a measly 100hp. On top of being destructible, Leer isn’t a fully blinding flash; it applies the same debuff Omen’s flash called near-sighted, which only allows you to see up to a few meters away.

Leer also shows up on the mini-map as it counts a physical object, similar to a Sova arrow, and it is clearly telegraphed, which makes it easier to destroy with about 3 shots from a rifle. One thing you should consider, more experienced Reyna’s will position their Leer in a location that requires you to compromise your crosshair placement, so you will need to consider when it’s better to reposition instead of shooting it.

VCT Leer Shot

The custom task included here will refine your ability to swiftly eliminate Reyna’s flashes during combat and reset your crosshair with enough time to engage with targets peeking into you. Use this task to practice your quick flicks and fast clicks to maximize your score on the task, and your overall performance against Reyna’s kit.

Training your ability to deal with Reyna’s Leers will be crucial in playing against the agent, as it vastly diminishes her ability to play offensively. Good luck!

Improve Your Wall Peeking on VALORANT’s Split https://aimlabs.com/articles/aimlabs-academy/improve-your-wall-peeking-on-valorants-split/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=improve-your-wall-peeking-on-valorants-split Fri, 02 Jan 2026 00:45:23 +0000 https://aimlabs.com/articles/?p=3879 Looking to step up your wall peeking game for VALORANT? Practice with this task to improve your peeks and crosshair placement!

The post Improve Your Wall Peeking on VALORANT’s Split appeared first on Aimlabs.com Articles.

]]>
Wall-peeking in Tac shooters such as VALORANT or Counter-Strike 2 may seem simple, but there are a few crucial key points to remember. First, ensure your crosshair is well-positioned, maintaining head level and adjusting your horizontal placement as needed. When you have a general idea of an enemy’s location, “pre-aim” by aligning your crosshair with where the opponent’s player model is expected to appear as you peek into their position.

Positioning is quite often overlooked in wall-peeking by novice players. A common mistake is standing too close to the wall, something which directly puts you at a disadvantage. In this position, the enemy will see you before you can spot them, due to how your cone of vision works in VALORANT, exposing your shoulder to their line of sight before you get the chance to catch a glimpse of your foe. Avoiding situations like this is critical in low TTK games where the first shot often decides the outcome.

This featured task will help you improve your wall-peeking fundamentals. By using a recreation of the popular VALORANT map “Split”, this training will further ensure your ability to recreate these mechanics out on the battlefield.

Position yourself further back from the wall, strafing side to side to see a cylindrical target at a variety of different depths and heights down each lane that you peek. The target will alternate side to side after each kill, so strafe back and forth to shoot the target as quickly as possible. Remember to place your crosshair in a position where the target is likely to be as you strafe out, and give yourself enough room to have a quality angle on each peek.
